A good scan starts with good preparation. With these tips you get the most out of your iPhone Pro and end up with an accurate measurement report straight away.
Before you start
- Tidy up: Move loose items that cover the floor. The scanner measures what it sees.
- Open the doors: This lets the scanner move through and link the rooms together.
- Enough light: LiDAR works in the dark, but the camera needs light for reference photos.
- Battery: Make sure you have at least 50% battery for a complete home.
While scanning
- Walk slowly: Give the sensor time to register every surface.
- Hold the phone steady: Avoid jolts and sudden movements.
- Scan low to high: Start at the floor and work up to the ceiling.
- Corners and recesses: Walk close to the walls to capture all the detail.
- Stairs and attic: Scan each floor separately and link them in the app.
Common mistakes
- Walking too fast: The scanner then misses surfaces and the geometry becomes inaccurate.
- Mirrors and glass: LiDAR bounces off reflective surfaces. Do not walk straight at them.
- Dark rooms: Turn the lights on, even during the day. Shadows create gaps.
After the scan
Check right away in the app whether every room was captured. Missing a room? Scan it on the spot, while you are still in the property. In the review screen you then adjust the categories and names.
